Extended Family

It occurred to me that health care has extended the average age of many people to the point where knowing your great grandkids is common.

I expect that my lifeline will be extended further. Perhaps, long enough to know my great great grandkids.

I have three kids. If all my descendants have only two kids and I live for four more generations of my family, there will be 45 people directly related to me.

But if all my descendants have three kids each, that's 120 people.

plus their spouses...

If I have to remember birthdays for up to 240 people when I'm old, I'm going to get incurable Alzheimers even if they find a cure.

  2. Wow Patrick, that patriarch that you descended from looks kind of scary - those dark, glaring eyes. You look so much like him, he could be you - wait a minute! Is he one of your previous lifes? I didn't know that when you were reincarnated, you could come back as a descendant. Whoa, you are descended from yourself? Freaky

  3. Hey, I just read somewhere that the average American family has just 1.87 kids--you could soon have 19.617609 direct descendents soon!

  5. I know. I love it too, even though I was the one that threw him. At the time it seemed like a good idea. The sand was relatively soft. Kids bounce. What could go wrong? After the initial toss I became worried as he started to rotate 180 degrees mid-air. What you can't see in this picture is my expression of shared pain and the thought that was going through my head, "Emily doesn't find out about this."
